This marks the 12th release in Woodford’s limited edition series which pays tribute to past distillery industry leaders Oscar Pepper and James Crow. Rather than using the natural malted barley used in Woodford Reserve Bourbon, master distiller Chris Morris instead selected malt that had been smoked with cherry wood during the kilning process.
Cherry, chocolate and roasted nuts are the dominant flavours here, in a bourbon expression outside of the conventional style. If you love cherries then this is the bourbon for you; all of that smooth, rich Woodford Reserve character augmented with dark cherries, maraschino, chocolate, popcorn and toasted oak. Layer upon layer of flavour.
