If there is one popular series of Nikka whiskies, it is the Black series. 

Black Nikka was launched in 1965 as Nikka's premium blended whisky, the Nikka Black Deep Blend whisky uses malt aged in new oak barrels and matured in Café grain malts. This is a completely different profile to the standard 'Black Nikka', smoother and more elegant with floral notes and light oak and vanilla sweetness.

In 1918, a young Japanese man with an ambition to make genuine whisky went alone to Scotland to unveil the secret of whisky making. He is Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky. Given the chance to go to Scotland, Masataka became the first Japanese ever to master how to make whisky.
