San Luis Del Rio boasts a tangy, fruity and smoky aroma with a top note of citrus. This mezcal is velvety, velvety and warms the palate with a crisp finish. Just south of Oaxaca on a bumpy two-lane highway that leads to the Gulf of Tehuantepec is the turnoff to San Luis Del Rio. It then takes an additional 2 hours on a twisty, rugged dirt road to reach the pueblo. The town sits in a narrow, hot valley, with steep slopes covered in Maguey Espadin. The Rio Hormiga Colorada (Red Ant River) runs through it. You may catch a glimpse of Paciano Cruz Nolasco as he tends to his fields. Above the vast Maguey fields, the mountaintops are dotted with cornfields, Iguanas scurrying across the road, and trees and cactus adorned with Bromeliads.
