The Urquhart family always dreamed of owning and managing their own distillery, and in 1993, that dream became a reality when Gordon & MacPhail purchased the derelict Benromach Distillery in Forres. With their extensive expertise in the whisky industry, the distillery was carefully and painstakingly re-equipped before it was officially reopened in 1998 by HRH Prince Charles. Benromach single malt is made with high quality Scottish barley and pure spring water from the nearby Romach Hills, and is carefully matured in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks before being awarded numerous accolades, including being named whisky vlogger Ralphy's Single Malt Whisky of the Year 2015. This award-winning whisky boasts a Sherry and ginger-forward nose and finish, with hints of tropical fruit sweetness, bold spices, and a touch of smoke.
