Filled in October 2011, this unrepeatable single cask was exclusively released to Ardbeg fans in Australia. An exceptional expression of the Ardbeg style, Cask no. 3063 was a product of the Distillery's experimentation with higher alcohol levels than normal, yielding a unique herbal complexity. Pale golden sands in colour, its nose is fresh and zesty with pine resin, Islay sea spray and Bells Beach surf, imparted with smokiness, spritzy lime, dark coffee and sweet barley malt. On the palate, a creamy mouthfeel gives way to a mix of fennel, tar, aniseed and peat smoke, interspersed with bitter-sweet coffee grounds and almonds. The finish is a long, delicate sooty aftertaste, reminiscent of a forgotten snag.
