1971 Glendronach Single Cask No.1247 Cask Strength 41 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

1971 Glendronach Single Cask No.1247 Cask Strength 41 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The 1971 Cask 1247 was a Pedro Ximenez Sherry puncheon, distilled in 1971 and bottled in 2012. 529 bottles were produced

After tasting and evaluating over 4500 whiskies worldwide for his “Whisky Bible 2012”, Jim Murray singled out Glendronach as the distillery “with the most consistently impressive output throughout 2011” and placed it “in the Grand Crus of Scottish Malt Distilleries”. He added: “If there was a Whisky Bible Scotch Malt Whisky Distillery of the Year, GlenDronach would be it.”

No doubt his praise was in part inspired by the amazing batches of Single Cask whiskies the distillery has been slowly sharing with the public. Now a miniscule selection has just arrived in Australia.

Each year Master Distiller, Billy Walker, selects a handful of single casks to be bottled at cask strength, without colour or chill filtration. These whiskies date back as far as 1968. While there is a vast selection of barrels, hogsheads, puncheons and butts to choose from, the trend has been towards impeccably clean Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry puncheons and butts, most of which share Glendronach’s typically luxurious profile. In some instances there is a fantasia of dates, orchestras of spices and explosions of honey, Demerara sugar, sweet molasses, mocha and even fruit cake.

As Murray himself has summed up, the collection is "Sulphurless, Sophisticated and Sensational". He has also pined over the sad reality that this sort of unblemished sherry purity is fast becoming a thing of the past. The latest batch is limited to between 300 and 600 bottles per expression.

Here is an opportunity to take advantage of some of the most hedonistic sherry classics ever produced. If you have enjoyed the likes of Glenfarclas, Tomintoul and old school Macallan, then these will be for you.

1983 Old Pulteney 33 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

1983 Old Pulteney 33 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

If you like your Pulteneys extra old, here's one well over three decades. Initially left to age in American oak barrels before being transferred into x Spanish oloroso sherry casks, expect a robust, full bodied, mouth-coating malt with notes of salted caramel, dried fruit, spicy vanilla and a creamy finish. Very limited stocks. Two thumbs up from Malt Maniac, Serge Valentin below. 46% Alc./Vol.

Finished in ex-oloroso sherry barrels, this is a rich and chocolatey Old Pulteney with undertones of stewed fruit and toffee. More than 33 years old, this is a fine single malt and a wonderful new addition to the Old Pulteney range.

Amrut Greedy Angels Chairmans Reserve Peated Sherry Finish 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Indian Whisky 700ml

Amrut Greedy Angels Chairmans Reserve Peated Sherry Finish 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Indian Whisky 700ml

This single malt whisky (324 bottles worldwide) is the second release of the Greedy Angels 10YO and also marks the first time that a peated whisky has been aged for 10 years in India.

The process began by casking the peated new make spirit, distilled from Scottish peated barley, into a first fill PX-Sherry Butt for 7 years. After this period of maturation, the whisky was transferred to an ex-Bourbon cask and a 100 litre refill virgin oak barrel respectively and aged for a further three years. Here, Amrut have followed an unusual process of moving from Sherry cask to ex-Bourbon which would normally have been done the other way around.

Bruichladdich Still Series Collection (3 x 700ml)

Bruichladdich Still Series Collection (3 x 700ml)

1 x Golder Still, 23 Years Old (Bottle 1,811 of 4,866)

1 x Redder Still, 22 Years Old (Bottle 1,838 of 4,080)

1 x Blacker Still, 20 Years Old (Bottle 1,722 of 2,840)

These whiskies predate the Black Arts Series and are Extremely Rare!

Bruichladdich Golder Still 1984: A rare limited edition, unique in that the classic 1984 spirit was matured in unusual, hand-made squat American Bourbon hogsheads – experimental “dumpy” casks that American coopers flirted with briefly in the eighties. This extra wood contact has produced a spirit reminiscent of an older style of whisky, an alluring and haunting barley sugar character of a bygone age. Bottled at a cask strength of 52%. The elegance and fruit of the Bruichladdich spirit marry well with Bourbon casks. Indeed a marriage, if not made in heaven, made on Islay – as the legendary 1970 bottling has shown.

Bruichladdich Redder Still 1984: Over two decades in first-fill American oak Bourbon casks followed by time in absolutely peerless casks from a legendary Chateau which produced an extraordinary lush, complex, fruit-driven dram with an incredible colour (the clue’s in the name) – a glorious picnic of summer strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and juicy plums. The second in our iconic “still” series. Distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2007. This epic release of only 4,080 bottles sold out so quickly on release that few ever got to see let alone taste it!

Bruichladdich Blacker Still 1986: This unusually dark whisky, blacker still than the Infinity II, distilled in 1986 and filled into fresh Olorosso sherry casks, perhaps proves that point. One wash still in use today dates from 1881 – the blacker still. Rare Oloroso Sherry butt maturation. These great casks – the end of an era – gave up less than 3,000 bottles. epic.

Rare and limited – this whisky is bound to become extremely collectable.

To celebrate the return of the Yellow Submarine to its spiritual home just outside the Bruichladdich distillery, head distiller Adam Hannett has hunted out the last parcel of that original 1991 spirit, now at a sublime 25 years old, and presented here as “WMD III”. Originally filled into refill sherry casks, this unpeated Bruichladdich spirit was then transferred into Spanish red wine casks in 2006. This third iteration has been balanced with refill bourbon casks, just as its predecessors.

Glendronach Kingsman 1826 Vintage 50.1% 29 Year Scotch Single Malt 700ML

Glendronach Kingsman 1826 Vintage 50.1% 29 Year Scotch Single Malt 700ML

  • Colour: Tarnished copper
  • Nose: Darkfield berry and plum skin on a base of aromatic bitters, sherry-soaked walnut and vintage leather, with smouldering cedarwood on a slate and earthen floor.
  • Palate: Dense autumn fruits melt with date, fig and treacle pulling, rolling into black winter truffle, raisin and cocoa.
  • Finish: Blackberry, tobacco leaf and date oil linger into the rich, deep finish.

The new The GlenDronach Kingsman Edition 1989 Vintage, according to those behind it, was “created in collaboration with Matthew Vaughn [Kingsman film franchise director], to mark the upcoming release of ‘The King’s Man’ by 20th Century Studios and MARV.”  The GlenDronach Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie produced it from a selection of just six casks distilled in 1989, with primary maturation occurring in Oloroso sherry casks and a secondary finishing in Pedro Ximénez casks from Spain.

“Working closely with Matthew,” said Barrie in a prepared statement, “I have selected casks of the most exceptional character for this rare 1989 Vintage, with smouldering aromas of dark fruits and sherry-soaked walnuts, vintage leather and cedarwood. On the palate, dense autumn fruits meld with date, fig and treacle, before rolling into black winter truffle and cocoa. In the exceptionally long finish, notes of blackberry, tobacco leaf and date oil linger to conclude the rich tasting experience.

As it stands now plans call for this 29-year-old single malt to be limited edition, with just 3,052 bottles have been “labelled, numbered and wax-sealed by hand, each adorned with an iconic, bespoke Kingsman insignia. The luxurious gift box also bears the signatures of both Dr Rachel Barrie and Matthew Vaughn.” It is bottled at 50.1% ABV.

Hibiki 17 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky 700ml

The Finer Details
Style - Japanese Whisky
Country - Japan
Bottle Size - 700ml
ABV - 43%

Suntory Hibiki 17 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky is amber in colour. The nose hints peach, apricot, melon, rose, lily, lemon leaf. On the palate is Toffee, black cherry, vanilla, and Mizunara (Japanese oak). The finish is sweet, fruity, with lychee aftertaste.

In 1923, Shinjiro Torii envisioned a whisky filled with the essence of Japanese nature and hand-crafted by artisans through a patient process of enhancing the work of nature.
He dreamt of creating subtle, refined, yet complex whisky that would suit the delicate palate of the Japanese and enhance their dining experience. Though initially inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different from those of Scotland. Torii chose the region of Yamazaki, on the outskirts of Kyoto as the birthplace of Japanese whisky. Bottle comes in a Box.
